Hi! I'm Aisling, just the ordinary girl next door who hails from the Land Downunder. I now live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. I may seem a bit shy at first, but you know what they say, it's the quiet ones you need to watch out for.
When it comes to hobbies I love swimming, yoga, watching Aussie Rules (go Dees), learning about history, staying up to date with current events, and, like many Aussies, I love to travel. The only continents I haven't experienced is Africa and South America, yes, Antarctica I have experienced as well.
Career wise I have worked in the Aviation and Travel industries for well over a decade.
Today it's Seattle that I call home, I love this city because it's just like my birthplace of Melbourne. We have so many similarities in culture that we should be sister cities. We love our coffee, we love sport, have an untrue reputation that it always rains and the traffic is just as bad. Although things could improve for the better, the days of the city being the same as what was shown in 'Sleepless in Seattle' is long gone. In fact, many probably are sleepless in Seattle.
The other thing I probably should add at this point is that I am a transwoman. I'm still in my transition but the majority of my life is living as the person I really am. It's so refreshing to not have to hide my true self.
Lately, with the state of affairs around the world, and the narrative been shown to us, there is one of two things that has come to mind. I'm either getting older and angrier or the world is going crazy. So I decided to officially start writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our society. Although, I do recognise that some of the views I share on this site might not be the "mainstream" narrative or could cause some angst. Evelyn Beatrice Hall did once say "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I feel nowadays this idea seems to have been lost, everyone has their opinion and opposing views should always be welcomed and stimulate a constructive conversation. Simply going down the path of "it's my way only!" sets us on a very dangerous path.
We are all different and that's not a bad thing at all! Instead, it's what makes us unique.
